Going on game drives – what to expect
Ideally, a day of safari begins with an early morning rise at the sounds of the African savannah. After a healthy breakfast you head out in a safari vehicle with your personal guide. This is the best time to see animals, who are most active just after sunrise (and just before sunset). You explore the savannah until it’s time for a packed lunch from the lodge, that you can enjoy at one of the picnic areas in the park.
You continue exploring the savannah until just before sunset, when you stop on a beautiful spot or go back to the lodge for the famous safari sundowner.
Watch the sunset while you nurse your favourite drink and reminisce about the day. The day ends with a lovely shower, a sumptuous dinner, and an early night. Because at sunrise the next morning it all starts again…
YOU DECIDE
Of course the definition of ideal is different for everyone. The good thing is, that with Tanzania Specialist both the car and the driver are at your disposal completely. This means you can adjust the above in any way you like. Do you prefer to go back to the lodge early for a relaxing afternoon with a sundowner and view over the savannah? By all means do so! Chances are you spot some amazing wildlife from the comfort of your own tent. On the other hand, if you don’t like early mornings, you can decide to take it easy and start your game drives a bit later because also during the day there are plenty of animals to see. And if you prefer to have lunch in the lodge, you can just do so.
Park curfew
The same goes once you are in the park. Whether you are fascinated by big cats, birds, photography, or elephants,

you can adjust the game drive to your liking. So if you prefer to observe the same animals for hours on end, nobody will push you to drive on. To make the best use of this freedom, we advise you to discuss all your wishes with your guide during the first briefing and at any time during your safari. He is the expert on game drives and might be able to come up with suggestions to make your day even better. Together you can create your personal and perfect safari day!

Just know that the only limit is the park curfew.
National parks only allow game drives from 6am (sunrise) to 6pm
(sunset) and expect guests to be back in the lodge outside of those hours.

When you arrive at Arusha Airport our Tanzania Specialist guide will be there waiting for you. He’ll drop you off at your hotel where you can relax in the
authentic African atmosphere, sipping on a typical African drink. And of course, you can cool down with a swim in the pool.
Your personal Tanzania Specialist guide is very experienced and knowledgeable about the amazing
nature that attracts so many tourists to this country, and knows a lot about African culture. So don’t hesitate to ask him all your questions from the beginning – he loves to answer all of them!
This trip is a real private safari, which means that you can get the most out of your trip!
In consultation with the guide, you decide what time the game drive starts and ends, but also how long you stay with certain animals.
Your adventure has just began!

Day 2 : Tarangire National Park

Today you will drive to Tarangire National Park. This park is well known for its big groups of elephants and the huge amount of giant baobab trees that can live for hundreds of years. In the dry season it’s possible to see groups of up to 250 elephants here! They can weigh up to six thousand kilos and have a special technique to draw water from the baobab trees.
Your private guide can tell you everything about this.
But Tarangire has many more wild animals, which you can spot most easily at the Tarangire River or Lake Burunge – the main water sources of the park – when they come to relieve their thirst.

.
Tarangire NP also offers the possibility of a hot air balloon safari or to visit a
traditional Maasai village , where you will see the simple way of life of the Maasai people, who prefer to live in small huts in the middle of the African savannah.

Day 3 – 5: Serengeti National Park (central west/east)

The highlight of the safari awaits you today – Serengeti National
Park. Serengeti is widely known as THE place to go on safari, mainly because of
the Great Migration.
Many of the most impressive nature films are shot during this movement of large
animals. With your guide, you might witness the enormous, stampeding herds on their search for food, as they pass this area several times a year.
From April to June, you might see them in the central-west as they are migrating up to the Kenyan border and the Mara River. Then, from October to December, they pass on the eastern side on their
way down to Ndutu.

The word Serengeti stems from the Maasai language and means endless plains. Besides the herds, many predators roam these vast grasslands; over four thousand lions, 225 cheetahs, a thousand
leopards, 3500 hyenas, and hundreds of wild dogs! And of course, there are plenty of other beautiful animals to witness, that your guide will be delighted to point out to you. Are you ready for this?

The Serengeti is magnificent, and the best way to see its splendor is from a hot air balloon. For a unique experience, take a balloon safari! You will soar over the plains, get close to the animals, and have the most amazing views.

Hot air balloon flight in Serengeti Included

Among the best activities in Tanzania, we definitely count this one! A balloon safari in the Serengeti will
make your Tanzania Safari a memorable experience.
You rise at sunrise and gently fly over the endless plains of the Serengeti. The hot air balloon will float at
treetop height above the baobabs and acacias, so you can see the animals close by. Watching the wildlife from above, offers an unique perspective. Enjoy the peace and breathtaking panoramic views.

The balloon safari starts from 3 different locations in Serengeti National Park

Day 6 : Ngorongoro Conservation Area (incl. Crater)

Today you will visit one of Africa’s seven wonders – the famous Ngorongoro Crater, formed two million years ago when the huge volcano erupted . The fertile lava has created a unique ecosystem which is now home to the highest concentration of animals found anywhere in Africa! While descending 600 meters from the rim onto the crater floor, you will be surrounded by the thousands of animals. The views are astounding – you won’t know where to look first!

The Ngorongoro Crater is home to many lion prides, herds of buffalos, zebras, wildebeests and many more species. And nowhere else you have a better chance to spot the rare and endangered black rhino. So if you want to see all of the “Big Five” – this is the place to be! The Ngorongoro crater is indeed an extraordinary place, and perhaps the most spectacular natural reserve for a visitor in Africa!
As an additional activity, you can visit a traditional – Maasai village
. Witness their simple and original way of living, in
their small mud huts in the middle of the vast plains.

Day 7 : Flight to Zanzibar (included in the price)

Day 8 – 13: Zanzibar

Paradise is here!

The tropical island of Zanzibar is famous for its crystal clear water and white sandy
beaches that are almost too beautiful to be true. The island lies in the Indian Ocean about fifty kilometres of the Tanzanian mainland. Together with the islands Pemba and Mafia, it belongs to the spice islands – famous for their cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, cumin and many other precious spices; a special spice tour shows how they grow.
Alleyways and sandbanks

The island has several amazing beaches, making the island Africa’s number one holiday destination. Besides, it has a fascinating history that can be explored in the museums of Zanzibar’s Stone Town. The town is great for a day out, as you can discover the many alleyways of Old Town, visit Prison Island, sail to sandbanks, munge on the most delicious local food, or watch local youth dive
spectacularly into the ocean at sunset.

The best beaches When it comes to the beaches, the north with Nungwi and Kendwa is the best if you enjoy an exciting nightlife with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. The beach in Nungwi is a bit rocky, but lovely when the tide is low. You can ride your horse on the beach, and book tours to sandbanks, coral reefs and dolphin spotting areas. Kendwa has amazing outstretched beaches and
an ocean that is perfect for swimming all day long. It’s also famous for its full moon parties
every month, so make sure to check if your stay coincides with a full moon!
Jambiani and Paje on the East Coast are our favourite villages, as this part of the island has the best beach vibe. Paje is perfect for kite surfing, and life in both villages just takes place on the white outstretched beaches with beautifully designed resorts and beach bars, lounge areas, delicious coffees, drinks and food, and great music.

Locals mix easily with tourists here, which gives the beach a special vibe. Here you can do
excursions like bike rides, cooking classes, sunset cruises, and snorkel tours during
the day, and enjoy quiet evenings in your resort at night unless you choose to dance the night away to live African music around beach fires!

Day 14 : Flight home from Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ)

📸 Photography Opportunities: Capture the magic of Tanzania with our specially designed photographic safaris, perfect for both amateurs and professionals!  We are all photo enthusiasts and will take many pictures of you 🙂
